Motor City madness

I don't know anything about the economy. I never even took an econ class. (And good thing - because I never would've passed it.)

I don't know anything about money. ...except that I don't have any.

So how can I be a regular consumer of mainstream media and not be anything but scared shitless?

Especially living here.

Michigan. Detroit. It certainly feels like the walls are caving in. Everything - everything - here is tied to the auto industry. I don't know a family without a connection. We're a Ford family, mostly. Though, thankfully, dad doesn't work directly for FoMoCo.

Cars are the backbone. If it breaks, this state is paralyzed.

There is nothing I can do to change it.

But you live it.
And you hear it.
And you can't help to absorb the constant anxiety.

I don't think the rest of the country realizes that our state will basically implode if we just let the auto companies go by the way-side. It's so annoying when I hear about "just letting the auto industry collapse" and then rebuild itself. Michigan is already in a state of hell, why would you want to make it anymore worse for us?!?!!

Anyways, just wanted to let you know that your fellow Michiganders feel the same way! Scared shitless!!!

Don't let it get you down. It can be daunting when you think of the scope of things. But it has not gotten that bad yet. It's tough, but not bad. Michiganders, Americans, have gone through much much worse. And we will rise if the occasion calls for it.

Oh, and stop watching the news. Their motto is "if it bleeds it leads." They are not a happy glass is half full blowing sunshine out your ass kind of bunch.
